Looks like all the cocky (if you’ll pardon the pun 
) types who told me years ago that the porn and sex industry are recession proof were, as I figured, full of it. Mind you most of them were salesmen so you have to take anything they say with a grain of salt.
This article in the L.A. Times shows just how times are changing in the industry. What excites me about all of it though are the changes that will have to take place. The porn industry will need to reinvent itself if it plans to survive and I’m quite curious to see how it’ll be done.
Back when I was the purveyor of porn I couldn’t keep it in stock. I was lucky enough to be in the VHS to DVD transition period and it was very viable. I’m actually glad I’m not in the biz anymore because these times would really have been hard to deal with. But as I always say, hard times weeds out the crap. Your really good studios and stars will come through it, and that’s what I’m curious to see.
